Down time

We've been sitting in my driveway for 15 minutes listening to music. The kids are raiding the glovebox while Avery sleeps and I catch up on the Internet. Grab it where you can, right?

My new happy place

I spent some time working on the girls' room this weekend. Everytime I walk in now, I grin. I love this room so much. It's still missing some small pieces (blue sheers in front of the closet, more turquoise on the walls, a few frames that need pictures) but it just makes me so freaking happy. I'm thinking that I may add more poofs too, but I'm not sure if I'm bordering on Dr. Seussish.

 

 

What a difference a few years make

I started my new class tonight and Dude, WTF? My other classes have been graduate level and this one is undergrad. I was so excited, because I remember how much I loved my psych classes and how awesome I thought everything was. These guys think I'm trying to swill some kind of voodoo snake oil. I kept repeating, "it's supported by the research!" but I don't think anyone cared.
In other work news, I participated actively in an hour long meeting about what color jumpsuits the inmates could wear and how long their toothbrushes should be. Such is life in the ivory tower...

Epic Halloween Picture-Fest!

I have been sucking at keeping up on the blog. To make up for it, here are our Halloween highlights!
 

 

Syd had her first preschool field trip. C said it was unbelievably adorable. She has a "very best friend in the whole world" and they were inseparable.

Of course, I had to take them back to get my obligatory pumpkin patch pictures. This one was the very first shot. Don't worry, I took about 117 bad ones afterward to make up for it. 

It took a lot of cajoling to get Eli on this swing, but it was totally worth it.

This one. She's so freaking tolerant. 

We took a weekend trip to Disneyland to see it decorated for Halloween. Haunted Mansion for the holidays is AWESOME. (Also, please note that C ruined the single picture in existence where all five of us are smiling genuine smiles and looking at the camera. He feels appropriately chagrined."

The kids trick-or-treated the new neighborhood with the tribe of the neighbor kids. Eli chose to sell his candy for a Clawzord. Syd saw the toy come, knew what toy she would pick, but ultimately chose to keep her candy. She's not even eating it. I think she just likes to know it's there. If she's smart she'll wait a week or two and sell it to Eli.
