Apples, trees, zombies

So Eli tells me this morning that he had a bad dream. A bad dream about the Chupacabra. That the Chupacabra sucked his blood "and then I was dead" and then sucked my blood and then sucked Daddy's blood and we were all dead then. And my first instinct? My first instinct was to reframe it with the ever-so-helpful phrase "But then we could all be zombies!" No wonder my kids are weird.

  1. This made me laugh, as I could totally see myself saying that too. Very logical, and makes it all less scary. Honestly, was there a better response? I think not.

  2. Maybe there was some benefit to children who grew up with regular horror movie marathons. Everyone knows that Chupacabras don't even suck human blood, so no need to worry. Vampires are a totally different story. I'm surprised he doesn't know about La Llarona - now, that's something to worry about. And, how about the Candy Man? Zombies aren't really bad people - just regular folks in an unfortunate situation.

  3. Hilarious!

I loved Night of the Living Dead when I was little, but Attack of the Killer Tomatoes sacred the crap out of me.

  4. I love that my mother pointed out the fallacy in his logic re: Chupacabras and their distaste for human blood. I'm seeing a pattern...
